I am Sally Rose, writer and teacher. Most of all, I am a learner.
Born and raised in the piney woods of East Texas, I lived in the Cajun Country of Louisiana, the plains of Oklahoma, the “enchanted” land of New Mexico, and the Big Apple, New York City, before moving overseas to Santiago de Chile where I now reside.
I’ve always been a scribbler. When I was a preteen, I faithfully kept a diary. Writing was a way to release and process thoughts and feelings, to review and reflect on actual events in my life, even on days when I wrote, “Nothing happened today.”
I took my first writing class when I was in 7th grade. As I got older, I moved from writing in a diary to journaling. “A Million Sticky Kisses” was born out of those daily journal entries during my visits to Chile in 2009 and 2010.
Since then, I had wanted to publish the story of my visits to Chile. Over the years, I had taken at least half a dozen writing courses without completing the manuscript, but friends in a writing group assured me that I wasn’t “not published,” but “pre-published.”
In 2014, I attended a seminar, where everything changed. “Do you have a book in you that wants to come out?” Yes! “Have you tried other methods of writing?” Yes! Out of sheer frustrated desperation, I signed up, right then and there, for this new (to me) writing program. The rest is now history.
Pre-published no longer, I am now the proud author of the Amazon Nº. 1 Best Seller, “Penny Possible,” the true story of a service dog in training, and “A Million Sticky Kisses.”
Next will be a book of anecdotes on life in Chile and another illustrated book about a dog named Elvis and his best friend, Roger.
Dreams can come true and stories can happen anytime, anywhere. Write them down!
